It’s April. The grass and the trees are green, the weather is warm, flowers are everywhere… and life looks so much better. The spring is а perfect time for long walks, running, picnic, riding a bicycle, but it’s also a perfect time for spring cleaning! Spring is time to get rid of the clutter and take the trash out. But have you ever thought of spring cleaning your mind as well?
Sometimes we all need to clean our mind as well as we clean our environment.
That’s why we want to share with you 5 simple tips you can use to take out the negative garbage beliefs (negative thoughts about others, negative self-talk, negative habits) that don’t help you to live a healthy life and replace them with new, beautiful thoughts.
1. Find some quiet place and relax.
2. Identify what has been cluttering your mind.
Ask yourself this question: What can I clear out of my mind that will allow me to become more calm and relaxed? Pick one negative thought or a bad habit at a time and then work on it until you’re satisfied, then move to the next one.
3. Write it down.
Writing things down is a powerful thing to clear your thoughts. Write what comes to your mind… Try to write down a list of several things you would like to clean up in your mind and put them where you can see them during the day. When you make progress, put a line through each item of your list as a reminder of your accomplishment.
Important: If you have a serious trauma or a mental health issue please contact a therapist. They know how to help you.
4. Learn how to clean up your mind on a specific matter.
You can also read some self-help books and forums about your specific issue. You will probably find great things that will be very helpful for you and your situation. But, sometimes it’s very easy to get lost and stuck inside a book or an articles that you have found, rather than fixing the problem, so please be careful and don’t go overboard!
5. Stay away from the negative things and people.
Your mind and mood are influenced by the input all around you. If you watch or read too much negative news, or spend too much time with people who are always negative, it can bring you down. Be selective of what you see, what you read, what you hear and with who you spend your time.
Surround yourself with people who will inspire you and give you motivation. Read some positive things and watch less news for a while. It’s not hiding from reality — it’s giving yourself a mental break from the constant flood of negative information in your life!
You can also control the negative vibrations in your daily life. Here are two techniques that we recommend you to practice when you feel that negative thoughts or emotions occupied your mind.
